Letting off some steam....
31/Jan/2007
Writing this blog from work. It's the 5pm to 1am shift, so since it's not that busy, plus there aren't any functions going on tonight in the hotel, just thought I'd kill some time by putting some of my thoughts on paper, or rather, online.
Just got an offer to go through cross-exposure as a duty manager from my FOM earlier today. I would have jumped on the offer right away if it weren't for the unfortunate experiences I had about 2 years ago. You see, 5 years in this hotel, for some I'd be considered as a veteran, and some would have already climbed so many steps on the 'ladder' to higher positions...but for me, I've been static where I started 5 years ago, except that I am now more enriched with experience and knowledge (and of course, with the yearly increment, my pay has also slightly gone up)
In the past five years, I have done this cross exposure before, and it turned out ugly. Yes, I did get to learn more especially at the front desk side, but it ended quite ugly, whereby promises were not kept and in the end I was 'kicked' back to my old position, feeling all used up. The scenario is almost too familiar now, so many resignations in the department, can't find replacements...so, who shall we USE next? Oh! There's that guy Sharezal who's doing quite well plus lately he's been getting a lot of good comments from guests...why not use him again? So there you are...I was called in for the offer, but I am stalling them and later I'd just say no..sorry I don't think I'll take up the offer. Why? FOR PERSONAL REASONS. And I'll walk out.
It would have been a different scenario altogether if the FOM himself was a much nicer person. But unfortunately, he's not. So...SORRY BRO. It's your shit to clean.
GOD, I've never been so angry.....
