Happy Father's Day
The internationally celebrated Father's Day just passed by, (thanks to Hallmark International) and this is the first time I'm celebrating it as a Father. Funny because I don't see the big hoohaah of it all, this Father's Day Celebration. Maybe because I'm still a 'recruit' dad just six month on the job and I have felt no challenges yet except on changing diapers and trying to keep awake at night helping my wife lullaby the baby to sleep. A funny feeling crept through me only when my dear mum called me on that Sunday morning to wish me Happy Father's Day..real strange feeling....
I feel that Fathers who have actually gone through the hardship of raising a child or several children are the ones who really deserves to celebrate such a day. Take for instance my dad, who then, with a meagre Governtment salary, managed to put us both through college, with all the heavy expenses of books and uniforms and what nots...oh and plus the fact that I went through a rather difficult medical situation when I was born, just shows how much sacrifices my dad (and mom!) went through to raise me up! Now that I am a father myself, I am beginning to see all this.
So Apak, and all the other dads in the world today, (also a special mention to my Arwah Grandfather Sulaiman, who raised 13 children during the WW2) - I SALUTE ALL OF YOU. DAD, you are my HERO...and I hope to be like you one day.
I love you.
