My 2006

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Wow!! It's 2007 already!!?? My goodness, time really flies!! I don't think I did get to fulfill any of 2006's resolutions, so I guess I'll just forward it to 2007. (what were my 2006 resolutions again?)

So many events happened in 2006...firstly, the arrival of my daughter, Leilani and the experience of 1st year daddy-hood...Alhamdulillah....although at times, challenging, so far, (touch wood) everything is going smooth..a very big thank you to Granma Angela for nannying 'si budak kenit' while both of us are away at work...don't know what we'll do without you, Mama!!

In January, there was a huge gathering of the Tans for Chinese New Year at the Holiday Villa Subang hosted by Uncle Bill and family. It was proud moment especially for my Por-por as Leilani is her first great grand child.

In terms of Parenthood, the both of us, Lissa and I, are enjoying this new phase in our lives....Leilani is really a blessing. Although we have to say goodbye to half (or maybe more!!) of our sleeping hours, the movie dates, the late night mamak visits etc..but all those are nothing compared to the new experiences like coming home to a cheeky smile from her, outings as a family (armed with strollers, extra diapers, blankets etc)


This year too reminded me (and I'm sure my parents too!) how my brother has FINALLY grown up. He got engaged this year to his long time girlfriend, Izza...Congrats bro!

Workwise? Same shit different day...the only highlight for my working life this year was that I had the opportunity to temporarily head my department for 3 months, till a new guy came in. Stressful, challenging, but a very learning experience. Enjoyed every single moment of it. Oh, and it was somewhere in this year too that I got into the Les Clefs d'Or or the Concierge Golden Keys Society, as an Adherent Member.

Raya 2006 was fun! Took a long leave and went to both kampungs, in Pahang and Perlis. It was the first time travelling far, especially by air with Leilani. Oh and she also travelled by sea too! Actually, with the arrival of Leilani, we experienced a lot of First Time Experiences like going out just the two of us, father and daughter to One Utama, taking her swimming for the first time and many more.


Lets see what else...hhmmm....healthwise? Alhamdulillah, apart from the minor flu and cough, with Allah SWT's blessings, everything's in tip-top condition.

My birthday in May this year was celebrated on a low scale. Mom and Dad took us to the all new Jogoya Restaurant in StarHill and Mama and Papa (the in-laws) treated me to a seafood restaurant in Tmn Tun. No big parties...not anymore....(were there ever?)

Leilani turned one last 20th Dec, and we had a small party on the weekend before that date for the family..it was fun. The best thing was that Leilani had so much fun till she fell asleep half way through the party and had to 'blow' the candle while still asleep! She was startled awake by the big crowd singing happy birthday for her...and not long after she cried...hehehe kesiaaan...it was more the parents who enjoyed the party than her...

We ended 2006 with a small family gathering up in Fraser's Hill where Uncle Bill rented two apartments in SilverPark. A nice cooling end to a cool year....In conclusion, I would say my whole 2006 revolved more around me being a new dad and all...plus juggling between work and family...slowly getting used to it....gonna get better, of course!
